Grimsby Photographic Society are proud to be part of N E Lincs Arts Forum Arts Festival.
This year, we are displaying a selection of photographs in the upper floor gallery at The Discovery Centre, Cleethorpes.
Also on display are various other Artworks by local artists.
The Exhibition runs to the end of August and entry is free.

All photographers, amateur and professional, are invited to submit their work for the Building on the success of 2008, International Garden Photographer of the Year offers photographers the opportunity to win in excess of £20,000 cash and equipment as well as international exposure in an exhibition at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The Award is open to all photographers who are invited to submit works within seven categories: Wildlife in the Garden; Plant Portraits; Garden Views; People in the Garden; the Edible Garden; Trees and World Botanic Gardens. There is also an award for the Young Garden Photographer of the Year for budding photographers under 16 years old. The competition is open to everyone and entries are welcome from across the world. For a nominal fee, participants can enter up to four single images in any one category or a themed portfolio of six images into the Portfolio category. Photographers can enter as many times as they like. All entries are made online via www.igpoty.com. After the closing date at the end of January 2009, the international panel of judges will select the top 100 works for display in an outdoor exhibition at Kew Gardens. Photographers entering a set of six themed images can also win the prestigious Best Portfolio Award. For further information about the competition and exhibition go to www.igpoty.com. The 2008 Garden Photographer of the Year was won by an Australian photographer Claire Takacs for her picture of the Japanese, Kenrokuen Gardens. This evocative photograph of the famous Japanese gardens in a flurry of snowflakes was selected from the Garden Views category and won Claire £5,000 for the Best Single Image. Her fellow winners included Henrique Souto from Portugal and Fergus Gill as the Young Garden Photographer of the Year. The 2009 competition has the following categories; The exhibition will form part of the 250th Anniversary of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Since its inception in 1759 by Princess Augusta, Kew has grown in size, charm and importance and is celebrated as a World Heritage Site. With over 40 historically important structures; five great glasshouses; 300 acres of tranquil landscape; and the best preserved and studied collection of plants in the world. LPA Result 3rd round
Our 3rd round tie of the 2008 LPA battles was held on 24 July.
I am very glad to say that GPs were once again victorious in the print section of the comp.
The scores were
Grimsby PS 162
RBCC 148
Dunholme cc 146.
Johns print , Divers approach Red Sea wreck scored 20 points and Steve's print ,Rain Man scored 20 also. Cassandra's Pretty Woman scored 19 points. Well done to all those whose prints were in the comp.
With this result GPS has qualified for the 2008 LPA Battles Final in the print section.
In the slides section the scores were.

This may earn us a place in the slide final having won our previous rounds.

PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION!
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust have just launched a brand new photography competition
in association with ITV Local (www.itvlocal.com). This will run from April
until September 29th. The competition categories are:
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserves - this includes
any photographs taken on, or of our reserves.
Wild Yorkshire - this includes any photographs taken within Yorkshire, it
could be a wildlife, landscape or a photograph showing how people enjoy nature.
Creative Use of Light
Children's - This category is open to anyone under the age of 18. Or why not
take a photograph and send it in on behalf of your school. Within this category
you can submit any wildlife or landscape picture taken within Yorkshire.

1 Agfa 35 mm camera early 1960's Silette - L in leather case with flash attachment
on strap also leather cased.
1 Ilford 35 mm camera. Make is unclear but it has Rodenstock-Ysarex and Prontor
Matic on lens also in leather case.
Roller screen
Ilford Elmo slide projector - boxed
Sportsview slide projector.
All the above are in good condition.
Also have a 100w projector which seems a lot older and in not such good condition
